The methods behind Market Differently™

The Genoo ExpertMesh Glossary for Marketers

Your buyers search, scan, and self-educate long before they ever contact you. Showing up as the expert they’re searching for takes more than good content: it takes a strategy that weaves content, outreach, and discoverability together. We call ours the ExpertMesh Strategy™, and over the years we’ve put names on the methods inside it, because a method with a name is a method you can repeat, measure, and hand to your team.

This page is the canonical home for those terms. Each entry gives the definition and links to where we teach the method in depth.

THE FRAMEWORK

The ExpertMesh Strategy™

The ExpertMesh Strategy is Genoo’s framework for building visibility and authority across the entire buyer journey by weaving together content, outreach, and discoverability, so you show up as the expert your buyers are searching for.

It rests on four pillars: Strategic Content Activation (content built around your buyers’ problems, challenges, and success factors), Semantic Optimization (weaving that content into an expertise narrative optimized for both humans and AI), Intent-Based Outreach (campaigns triggered by buyer behavior and timing), and Strategic Enablement (training your team to apply the framework). Every other term in this glossary is a named method that operates inside the ExpertMesh.

INTENT-BASED OUTREACH METHOD

The Self-Segmentation Loop

The Self-Segmentation Loop is Genoo’s method of letting leads sort themselves into interest segments: every scored link click automatically routes a lead into the segment and nurturing sequence matching what they just clicked.

We’ve been teaching this approach since 2016. Instead of guessing at segments from profile data, you send valuable content on two or three distinct challenges and let each lead’s clicks declare which challenge is theirs. The loop never stops running: every email in every nurturing sequence carries its own scored links, so leads keep re-sorting themselves as their interests evolve.

INTENT-BASED OUTREACH METHOD

Beyond-the-Click Segmentation

Beyond-the-Click Segmentation is the practice of tracking everything a lead does after they click through from an email, capturing every page visited and post read on the lead record, and using that full trail to sharpen the lead’s segment automatically.

The click is where most email tools stop measuring, and it’s exactly where the most valuable signal begins. A lead who clicks and leaves is curious. A lead who clicks and then reads four more posts in the same category just told you which problem they’re working on. When the full trail is attributed back to the email that started it, you see what your email actually caused, and the follow-up can match the depth of interest demonstrated.

LIST HEALTH PRINCIPLE

The 42-Day Memory Window

The 42-Day Memory Window is the period after which a silent lead no longer remembers opting in to your list; go quiet longer than 42 days and re-engagement starts from zero.

This number comes from our own list data, and it has teeth: opt-outs and spam complaints spike when a list that went silent suddenly starts sending again, because the leads have forgotten who you are. The window is why a steady, value-first communication cadence matters more than a perfect one.

GETTING-STARTED RULE

The One Segment, One Sequence Rule

The One Segment, One Sequence Rule is Genoo’s starting principle for segmentation: launch with one broadcast email carrying two or three scored links, one automation rule, and one nurturing sequence behind the challenge that matters most to your ideal customer, then let lead clicks tell you which segment to build next.

Most segmentation projects die from over-planning. Twenty micro-segments you can’t feed with content is worse than one segment you can. Start with one, measure, expand.

NURTURING METHOD

The GTKEO Sequence

The GTKEO Sequence (Getting To Know Each Other) is Genoo’s three-email welcome series for brand-new leads whose interests are still unknown: it deepens engagement, builds trust, and uses each lead’s clicks to discover what they actually want to learn about.

Email one thanks the new subscriber and sets expectations. Email two introduces the human behind the emails and offers one or two of your most popular attractors. Email three recaps, delivers your best attractor, and asks for whitelisting. By the end, the lead’s clicks have begun sorting them into interest segments, which means your first “real” campaign to them is already relevant.

Where we teach it: New Lead – Yeah! Now What?

NURTURING CADENCE RULE

The Value-to-Pitch Formula

The Value-to-Pitch Formula is Genoo’s cadence rule for nurturing email: send three value-based emails for every one pitch email, so trust and reciprocity build faster than list fatigue.

When you deliver genuine value three times before asking for anything, the reciprocity principle starts working in your favor, and your pitch lands with an audience that already trusts you. This is selling without selling.

BUYER INSIGHT METHOD

The WHY Chain

The WHY Chain is a questioning method developed by Margaret Johnson, one of Genoo’s chief marketing strategists, for uncovering a buyer’s real motivation: keep asking why at each answer until you reach the true outcome the buyer wants, then tie the first statement back to the last.

Surface reasons are red herrings. A company doesn’t buy translation services because “they need documents in other languages”; seven whys deep, they’re buying risk mitigation or global expansion. Segments built on real WHYs get messaging that resonates; segments built on surface reasons get ignored.
